The Port Erie Catamaran bottom
design corrects turbulence and cavitation, allows it to
run in very shallow water, and delivers a far superior ride
in rough water. The motor is mounted higher and takes
advantage of the water rising through the tunnel as the catamaran
moves. As the water rises through the tunnel
it compresses the air above and creates a cushion. This is part
of the reason the boat does not pound in rough water and is capable
of running straight into a Lake
Erie 3-4 foot chop at a sustained 20 knots. Read more about the
Port Erie design and capabilities in the Port
Erie Challenge.
